Abigail Echo-Hawk
Executive Vice President, the Seattle Indian Health Board
Abigail Echo-Hawk, MA (Pawnee) is the Executive Vice President of the Seattle Indian Health Board and the Director of the Urban Indian Health Institute, a tribal epidemiology center. She works to support the health and well-being of urban Indian communities and tribal nations across the United States. Abigail has been recognized as a national leader in decolonizing data for Indigenous people, by Indigenous people.
Aneesh Chopra
President, CareJourney
Aneesh Chopra is the President of CareJourney, an open data and analytics platform delivering a trusted, transparent rating system for physicians, networks, facilities and markets on the move to value. He served as the first U.S. Chief Technology Officer (’09-’12) and the fourth Virginia Secretary of Technology (’06-’09). He’s the author of the 2014 book, Innovative State: How New Technologies can Transform Government. In 2017, he joined the board of the Health Care Cost Institute, a non-partisan, non-profit organization focused on complete, accurate, unbiased health care utilization and cost information. In 2015, he served as the inaugural Walter Shorenstein Media and Democracy Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School.
Annie Fine MD
Chief Science and Surveillance Officer and Senior Advisor to the Data Modernization Initiative, Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists
Dr. Annie Fine is a medical epidemiologist, a pediatrician and a graduate of the CDC EIS fellowship. She currently serves at the Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) as the Chief Science and Surveillance Officer and Senior Advisor to the Data Modernization Initiative. Dr. Fine previously worked at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene where she guided efforts to modernize communicable disease surveillance and led epidemiologic data management for infectious diseases including Ebola, Zika and most recently, COVID-19, where she headed the epidemiology and data unit for the emergency response until transitioning to her new position at CSTE.
Dale Sanders
Chief Strategy Officer, Intelligent Medical Objects
Dale Sanders has a diverse 39-year career as a data and technology strategist—16 years in the space and defense sector and 23 years in healthcare. During his career, he’s served as a nuclear command, control, communications, and intelligence officer in the US Air Force; a threat analyst for the START Treaty and the National Security Agency; a data and analytics strategist for the Intel Corp; a senior data strategist for the Canadian healthcare system; and Chief Product and Technology Officer for Health Catalyst. He currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer for Intelligent Medical Objects, Executive Partner for Ardan Equity, and Senior Data Strategist for the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Dylan George PhD
Director of Operations for the Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Dylan George, Ph.D., is the Director of Operations for the Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (CFA) at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). CFA is building world class data and analytics capabilities to guide interventions in public health emergencies and pandemics. Prior to joining the CDC, Dr. George worked in the private sector at Ginkgo Bioworks and In-Q-Tel (IQT). He also served on the Biden-Harris Transition Team working on National Security policy for the COVID-19 response, and on the Agency Review Team for the Department of Health and Human Services.
Daniel B. Jernigan MD, MPH
Deputy Director for Public Health Science and Surveillance, CDC
Daniel B. Jernigan, M.D., M.P.H. is the Deputy Director for Public Health Science and Surveillance at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In this role, he oversees critical public health efforts for CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics, the Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services, the Office of Science, and the Office of Laboratory Science and Safety. Dr. Jernigan’s primary focus is to provide leadership for CDC’s Data Modernization Initiative, a broad activity to transform the U.S. public health information ecosystem.
Gail Christopher DN
Board Chair, Trust for America’s Health
Currently the Board Chair of the Trust for America’s Health, Gail Christopher, D.N. is an award-winning social change agent with expertise in the social determinants of health and well-being and in related public policies. She is known for her pioneering work to infuse holistic health and diversity concepts into public sector programs and policy discourse. Dr. Christopher recently retired from her role as Senior Advisor and Vice President at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF), where she headed the America Healing initiative and the Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation effort. She became the Executive Director of the National Collaborative for Health Equity in November 2019 and a Senior Scholar with George Mason University’s Center for the Advancement of Well-Being in 2015.
Kristina Box MD
State Health Commissioner, Indian Department of Health
Dr. Kristina Box was named Indiana State Health Commissioner by Governor Eric J. Holcomb on September 18, 2017. She’s been a practicing obstetrician and gynecologist in Indianapolis for 30 years. She served on the Indiana Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative (IPQIC), an advisory council to the Indiana State Department of Health, composed of more than 300 statewide community professionals working to reduce infant mortality.
Karen Remley MD, MPH
Director, National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities
Karen Remley, MD, MBA, MPH, FAAP, is the Director for the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD). She has more than 30 years of experience in public health and health care, with leadership roles in the public and private sectors. Prior to joining NCBDDD, Dr. Remley served as Senior Advisor to the COVID-19 response for the Office of the Commissioner, Virginia Department of Health, where she was instrumental in increasing and assuring testing for COVID-19. She also worked as a Professor of Pediatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Remley has served on many national committees and commissions working on public health education, health equity, and patient safety, including her roles as Chief Executive Officer of the American Academy of Pediatrics; Commissioner of Health for the Commonwealth of Virginia; Chief Medical Director of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Virginia; and Chief Executive Officer of Physicians for Peace.
Kimberly Repp PhD, MPH
Chief Epidemiologist, Washington County, Oregon
Kimberly Repp, PhD, MPH is currently the Chief Epidemiologist for Washington County, Oregon and has served at the county for nearly 11 years. She earned her PhD in Microbiology in 2005 from Arizona State University and her MPH in epidemiology and biostatistics from Oregon Health & Science University in 2011. Publications during her time at Washington County span the breadth of public health and include demonstrating the first ever person-to-person transmission of Norovirus without direct contact, epidemiological methods involved in an community-wide emergency response, and evaluation of a novel suicide surveillance system developed in the county. Dr. Repp and her Medical Examiner team won the 2018 Susan P. Baker national public health impact award for the suicide work instituted at Washington County.

Public Health Lead for State and Local Government, Amazon Web Services
Jim Daniel is the Public Health lead for State and Local Government at Amazon Web Services. Prior to joining AWS, Daniel served for almost a decade with the United States Department of Health and Human Services, most recently as the Director of Public Health Innovation for the Office of the Chief Technology Officer, and prior to that as the Public Health Coordinator for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT. Before joining the federal government, he was the Chief Information Officer for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
Judy Monroe MD
President and CEO, CDC Foundation
Dr. Judy Monroe has dedicated her career to protecting people and saving lives. She joined the CDC Foundation in February 2016 as president and CEO, following her role as a deputy director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and director of CDC’s Office of State, Tribal, Local and Territorial Support. In her work at the CDC Foundation, Dr. Monroe advances priority programs that improve the health of people across America and around the world. The CDC Foundation mobilizes philanthropic and private-sector resources to support CDC’s critical health protection work, managing hundreds of programs in the United States and in more than 140 countries. The CDC Foundation is actively supporting CDC and U.S. health departments’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She previously served as state health commissioner for Indiana.
Micky Tripathi PhD, MPP
National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Micky Tripathi, PhD, MPP is the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he leads the formulation of the federal health IT (Information Technology) strategy and coordinates federal health IT policies, standards, programs and investments. He has more than 20 years of experience across the health IT landscape and most recently served as Chief Alliance Officer for Arcadia, a healthcare data and software company focused on population health management and value-based care.
Nirav Shah MD, MPH
Chief Medical Officer, Sharecare
Nirav R. Shah, MD, MPH, is Senior Scholar at Stanford University and Chief Medical Officer of Sharecare. He is a leader in public health, digital health and innovation, and care transformation. Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Shah is a graduate of Harvard College and Yale School of Medicine, and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. He serves as an independent director of public and private companies, and on the Advisory Committee to the Director of the CDC. Previously, Dr. Shah served as Chief Operating Officer of Kaiser Permanente in Southern California, and as Commissioner of the New York State Department of Health.
Theresa Cullen MD
Public Health Director, Pima County Health Department
Dr. Theresa Cullen is a family physician and clinical informatician who has led numerous large-scale health IT software development and deployment initiatives throughout her time in public service. She began her career with Indian Health Service (IHS) in 1984 as a family practice physician, and from 2006-2011 she served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Director of the Office of Information Technology for IHS. In 2012, she retired from the U.S. Public Health Service with the rank of Rear Admiral and Assistant U.S. Surgeon General. Dr. Cullen went on to work as the Chief Medical Information Officer for the Veterans Health Administration and later served as Associate Director of Global Health Informatics at the Regenstrief Institute, where her work focused on the use of technology to improve health outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. Dr. Cullen became the Public Health Director of Pima County, Arizona, in May 2020 to help guide the county through the COVID-19 pandemic.
